Under a new partnership deal, online travel agent Webjet will be supplying hotel rooms to Australian eBay customers.

“Unlike many other forms of distribution, eBay has a unique and very special community of members of enormous size and marketing strength in the Australian regions,” says David Clarke, Webjet managing director.

“It is the largest step that Webjet could make in terms of extending its market footprint into the sale of hotels.”

Webjet will only incur marginal operating costs, and expects to achieve greater sales as a result of the deal.

The partnership is also an opportunity for eBay to expand its goods and services offering. And while the rooms won’t be auctioned, they’re still expected to be available for competitive prices following aggressive supplier marketing.
