Retailers are benefiting from an online presence, as sales increase. In the last quarter visits to the department stores online industry increased in category share by 42 percent, according to Hitwise.
Mobile phones and digital cameras were the most popular searches in the appliance and electronics industry. Also doing well is the music retail industry, mainly due to the 15 percent growth of iTunes.
Purely online retailers are among the contributors to increased sales, as they drive more consumers online, says Hitwise.
