Minister for Trade Simon Crean yesterday launched Australia’s official business program for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
“It is our goal that many hundreds of Australian companies take advantage of this business platform, in order to establish immediate contacts and build long-term, sustainable links,” said Crean.
The Games have already benefited Australian businesses, with more than 40 Australian companies winning over 50 Games-related contracts.
At past sporting events, such as the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games and the past two Rugby World Cups, the Business Club program has proved helpful in fostering long term, profitable business relationships.
Last year, over 4,000 Australian companies exported to China. Bilateral trade is now worth $52.7 billion.
