IBM has invited young entrepreneurs, students and small businesses around Australia to enter the worldwide IBM Virtual Worlds Challenge as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (17 to 23 November).
The challenge allows young entrepreneurs to come up with concepts on how businesses in the real world can interact with virtual spaces and 3D environments.
The initiative is designed to engage young minds with serious business challenges, posing questions such as “how do we connect to a virtual space with a real place?” and “how can we flow seamlessly in and out of virtual worlds?”
According to IBM CEO Glen Boreham, the IBM Virtual Worlds Challenge is particularly relevant to young Australians, who are "significant contributors to the culture of creativity and innovation that underpins online and virtual world communities.”
Twenty semi-finalists will be announced on November 22, with five then selected to present their business plans to a panel of Venture Capitalists during Spring, 2009.
