The Hot Women campaign, run by Global Warming Alliance, is empowering women to cut down on carbon emissions by making simple energy saving changes around the home.
“The initiative has raised a few eyebrows but that is all about getting the campaign noticed. Statistics show women make the majority of decisions on what energy appliances to buy for the home,” says Louise Burfitt-Dons, Hot Women founder and humanitarian campaigner. “I think women are backing us because they see it as a moderate campaign—some campaigns can be seen to be too aggressive.”
Wilson National, a carbon neutral full service lender, is offering Hot Women members a 0.25 percent p.a. discount off its standard variable home loan rates, to show its support. “Climate change is something that will affect all humans, and it is encouraging to see women taking the lead,” says Gordon Watson, Wilson national communications director. “If only there were Hot Men to take up the challenge.”
