My Mentor, a mentorship program for working women, has partnered with the Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE and the Federal Government to provide access to a $4,000 study grant.

Women with no qualifications will be able to start vocational education training, or an assessment of prior learning, to achieve a Certificate IV in Business.

“The balance of the $4K funding program can then be used to pay for the My Mentor program, any other adjunct learning’s required to complete the certificate, or into a pool within the organisation to support the training and development needs of other women,” says Maureen Frank, creator of My Mentor.

“Women who decide to partake in the program can also receive credit towards their certificate by completing the My Mentor program within their organisation.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for women in the workplace who have no prior qualifications or have a qualification which is greater than seven years old.”

If employers can nurture their gifted female employees, they’ll have a better chance at retaining them, says Frank. “Employers need to take advantage of this program to support the professional development of their female staff, a group who have a huge impact on a company’s bottom line.

“The cost to Australian companies losing their female employees is around 1.5 times the salary they are paid—for some organisations this is millions of dollars every year.”
