Exporters are encouraged to enter the 2008 Export Awards, which recognises and profiles international business achievement by Australian companies. The awards promote export leaders as role models to inspire other businesses to service overseas markets, which benefits the Australia economy.
Each State and Territory run their awards, and then winners progress as national finalists in their category. Categories include industries such as agribusiness, arts, ICT, education and tourism, and business size. There is also an award category for regional exporters and emerging exporters.
At national level, judges will select one winner in each category and from that group, the 2008 Australia Exporter of the Year, which will be presented by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd at a ceremony in December.
Businesses interested in applying for the award can do so through the award website: www.exportawards.gov.au
