Minister for Trade, Simon Crean, has returned from his trip to India; Australia’s ninth largest trading partner.

The new Australian Government is working to creating a more comprehensive bilateral relationship. Annually, total trade between Australia and India has been growing at 30 percent.

During Crean’s meeting with the Indian Minister for Trade and Commerce, Kamal Nath, he highlighted areas where Australia and India could work together during the WTO Doha round of trade negotiations. These include agriculture, manufacturing, and services.

Crean also mentioned the Australian Government’s plans to work actively to have the Indian Government invited to join APEC.
