The Federal Government has committed to provide a one-off payment of $2,500 to business services for product promotion.

A total of $525,000 will be spent. Business services employ people with disabilities in a wide range of areas, from assembling solid wooden boxes for the mining industry, to garden maintenance. "All 210 business services around Australia will receive the payment and a marketing kit to help them increase visibility and grow sales," says Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Children's Services, Bill Shorten. "Anyone familiar with business knows that marketing is crucial to success," Shorten adds. "But business services don't often have the resources needed to market their merchandise, and with a few exceptions, can struggle to grow their business. "This one-off payment will help them spread the word about their products, which are great quality, and made locally by people with disability." Eligible businesses will receive a do-it-yourself marketing kit, which explains the basics of marketing and comes with tips, ideas, templates, checklists, case studies and links to other resources.
