Australia now has three cities—Sydney, Brisbane and Perth—in the top 50 of the world’s most expensive office space, according to a Global Market Rents Survey by CB Richard Ellis.
At $800/sqm per annum, Sydney led the Australian contingent, ranking 38th, a jump of 10 places since the previous survey. Perth made it for the first time, debuting at number 41 for its $785/sqm average, while Brisbane’s $747/sqm price tag earnt it 46th place.
London topped the global list, followed by Moscow and Tokyo. Others in the top ten included two Indian cities—Mumbai and New Delhi—and newcomers Singapore and Dubai.
"This is perhaps a sign of things to come for a market which has enjoyed staggering rental growth over the past three to four years," says CBRE Research and Consulting executive director Kevin Stanley.
