10 million Apple applications downloaded for iPhone and iPod touch

Users have already downloaded more than 10 million applications, since the launch of the iPhone last week, says Apple.

There are 800 applications available, including everything from games and location-based social networking to medical applications. Better yet, of these, around 200 are available for free. Any other purchases will be charged to the user’s iTunes account.

“Developers have created some extraordinary applications, and the App Store can wirelessly deliver them to every iPhone and iPod touch user instantly,” says Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple.

The downside? If you want the applications for you iPod touch, you’ll first have to download a software update for RRP $12.99.
