Melbourne-based company Aafia Pty Ltd has launched a new training program called Leadership Journey, which attempts to take participants out of their comfort zone and teach them new skills and ways to communicate effectively with peers.
Taking a rather innovative approach to teaching, the Leadership Journey program takes participants on a journey for between eight to ten days, out of their geographical comfort zone to a development project in a foreign location.
The program aims to incorporate leadership development with corporate social responsibility.
According to company founder Andrew Jones, the program challenges participants to think outside the square at the same time as teaching them corporate social responsibility.
“Leadership development is usually undertaken in the confines of a classroom and often fails to achieve a significant impact,” he said.
