JB-Hi Fi defies recession with 17 new stores

By Jessica Stanic on Monday, 24 August 2009

Electronics retailer JB Hi-Fi continues to defy the downturn, announcing plans to open 17 new stores across NSW.

JB Hi-Fi chief executive Patrick Elliott said over the next three years the electronics retailer would open 17 stores across Sydney, Albury and Wollongong.

JB Hi-Fi has faired well in the recession posting record profits in the 2008-09 financial year, as shoppers took full advantage of the Federal Government’s stimulus package.

Elliott said they have experienced “strong trading across all of our sectors.”
