Google launches AdWords for YouTube

By Veronica Joseph on Wednesday, 28 October 2009

Google has revealed in its official blog that it is today launching the much talked about Promoted Videos model in Australia, as a way for advertisers to get closer to their audience by placing their video on related pages on YouTube and across the web.

In the blog, Google said Promoted Videos will help advertisers target relevant audiences as they search or watch videos on YouTube or browse the web using Google.

Just like AdWords, Promoted Videos allows users to define keywords and pay for those keywords on a cost per click basis. Google said advertisers can also buy Promoted Videos through AdWords to “provide a single destination for your overall Google ad buy.”

According to the blog, advertisers will also be able to add clickable overlays to Promoted Videos to drive viewers from YouTube to their website. Google said this will allow advertisers to track the performance of their video and whether viewers are being converted into customers.
