Black Eyed Peas Will.i.am fronts Blackberry launch
Research in Motion made PR gold today when they employed BlackEyed Peas frontman will.i.am to launch the latest BlackBerry.
Flying in from last night’s Brisbane gig to  talk at the media launch at RIM’s North Sydney offices, he freely admitted to being a ‘crackberry’ addict, saying he often gets grief from band mates for texting during rehearsals.
The Black Eyed Peas just started a sellout tour of Australia. Will.i.am said he felt like the BlackBerry was made for him and said he preferred it to the iPhone because he doesn’t like touchscreens and he loves the free BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) function.
The Curve 8520 is BlackBerry’s latest phone onto the Australian market and sees the infamous trackball replaced with a touch-sensitive trackpad. It also features dedicated media keys along the top of the handset.
“The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is an incredibly feature-rich and easy-to-use smartphone,” said Adele Beachley, managing director, Australia and New Zealand, Research In Motion. “It delivers exceptional messaging, social networking and multimedia capabilities and it is a perfect choice for the first-time smartphone user.”
