Ross, Asia is a big place and it does differ from country to country. Generally speaking, education is a pretty big recruiter - not just teachers but in business training and development positions.

In developing countries where government money has gone to infrastructure spending, such as China and Thailand, there's a big pull for architects, project managers, engineers and related disciplines.

In countries where legal and financial infrastructure is still developing, Australians provide a lot of expertise in appropriate roles in those sectors.

There are also opportunities in the environmental sector, largely consultancy work but also some science and commercialisation positions as an example. Hope this helps.

An interesting article, that points out some of the benefits of the recession, and not just the negatives! In not so many words, it seperates the wheat from the chaffe and tightens the organisation and productivity of companies, with the genuinely efficient and honest companies being able to survive.

Out of interest, In what industry sectors are Asia recruiting significant numbers of skilled Australian workers?
